you can buy them from e30.de I think, and there was a group bu on the zone not long back someone may have not used theirs and changed plans.

It has to be easier than trying to make your own and would probably work out cheaper if you had to make several attempts.

Always the way with e30zone. Ask a technical question or something not many people have done, you all just say "urgh just buy it, gotta be cheaper in the long run".

How the hell can paying over £100 for a pair of bits of steel, cost more than about 2hours work with a grinder and welder, and about a 2' length of steel plate!?

FWIW - I don't have the dimensions, but the Germans seem to recommend a clever idea which I tbh hadn't thought of. Just drill out and cut a plate to fit onto the m30 engine, do the same for on top of the rubber engine mount, then move your engine into position with these plates on, and just tack on some bars joining the two plates (from engine to mount). Then move engine out of the way, remove the temporary mount, and reinforce it out of the car.

Seems like it would take a few hours with the car immobile but probably the best way of doing it to get the engine exactly where you want it.

Personally I think I'm going to try that, as measurements get complicated in 3 dimensions.

I plan on measuring up as much as I can, getting a spare prop mated to the m30 end at the right length, get the gear selector also somewhere near, then when it comes engine swap time all I have to do is tack up the mounts, reinforce them, then the engine is in and connected.

With respect, what were you expecting?

Sounds like you just answered your own question.

Zoners may contribute their opinions and try to offer their advice and opinion based upon their experiences. Should you choose to ignore it or embrace it; but that attitude "Always the way with e30zone. Ask a technical question or something not many people have done, you all just say "urgh just buy it, gotta be cheaper in the long run". will not get you very far here.

We are all here to help each other out. Had I ever done an M30 conversion then I would have gladly helped you because I would have made notes/taken dimensions and have been willing to pass on any advice.
Personally I think I'm going to try that, as measurements get complicated in 3 dimensions.
Well, there you go.

Good luck with your conversion. Don't give up on the Zone because you couldn't get the specific help you were looking for dude.

The e30.de mounts are a very well engineered piece, why would somebody give this away?

For a price maybe :)

If you get a nice tidy design going im sure you could sell a few sets to zoners at a reasonable price 8)
