Use a 5W-40 or 10W-40 full synthetic with ACEA A3 rating and better yet: a BMW LL-98 and, or BMW LL-01 approval.

Skip the engine oil flush.

If you can find a US product Auto-RX www.auto-rx.com many of us have had good luck with this gentle synthetic cleaner . It takes about 3500 miles to clean and rinse, and seems much safer than solvent based engine flushes.

If full synthetic is too expensive rest assured that all moder name brand oils are quite good.

I run full synthetic for 7000 miles and conventional oils for 3500 miles.

as blueskybasin suggests the cost of fully synthetic is paid back in its extended change interval...i use fuch titan 5 40 and change around 6k but is recommended at 9k,conventional mineral oils are around half that interval.

around 15 pound for 4 litres so,yes 2 required.

oilman recommend this fuch oil,but is dependant on use really.
