finally took my poor old 335i apart today

the oil pump sprocket had come off the oil pump and was hanging in it's drive chain!

some muppet must've not tightened the retaining nut properly, the nut was in the sump

potentially a free fix :cool: bolt it all back together and go! i don't think the rest of the engine's damaged, it was an instant failure at near tickover and there's no swarf anywhere.

the oil pump tensioner's damaged but i think it's not needed, only added to give quieter running, the older m30s don't have a tensioner at all. bit of research needed but at least i don't need Ԛ£250 of new oil pump!
