In my old car i had 3 12" type R subs with a 1000/1 JL audio monoblock. They were pretty good but i changed them for 2 JL audio W7's and there was no comparison!

As has been said, the quality will entirely depend on the amp you use, its no good having decent subs with some crappy £100 amp

Whats your budget for amp and subs?

im hoping to spend about £1000 altogether for a complete alpine setup which is 3 more amps, 6inch comps, 5inch coax and maybe some 6x9's if i got money left over

You should join the talk audio forum and have a look through their classifieds, many bargains to be had!

Why 3 amps? You only need 2 surely?

Forget the 6x9's they are the work of the devil and will sound totally pants next to the rest of the gear your planning.

For the components, i would go for the infinity reference's instead of the alpine, iv had both at one stage or another and the infinity's were better hands down.

Dont forget to budget for some sound proofing and decent cabling etc

cables already bought just need the amps to connect to them, well i was gna run a 2 channel amp for each set of speakers, its a bit more expensive but theres more control over the sound, i never wanted 6x9s it just crossed ma mind, and dont realli want to be tearin holes in my interior

A good 4 channel amp will be more cost effective and still give you the control you want. Its also worth remembering that you wont hear the rear speakers at all! In my last car (when i was into ice) i ripped the rear speakers out in the end

Looks like a good amp from the specs, im not really up on the newer models but the price seems pretty good.

I meant the references. The perfect 6.1's are also very very good speakers if you fancied spending a bit more but im not sure how easy they will be to fit in an e30 (they were a bitch in a pug 206 lol)

the alpine type r's are gd as long as you have them in the alpine vented box. what you can do i run them of the Directed D2400 Mono Amplifier, it 2400 watts and it heavy for deep bass!!! :D
