Does any one know if I can take my mint M40 engine out of the tourer, this has CAT/lambra probes ect. Then swap it for a non CAT engine that the cam is hanging out of..........Thing is I would like to lose the CAT all together......... will there be ECU/oxygen sensor/wiring problems......cheers MAK

You want to put a non CAT engine into a CAT ready car??

Why not just remove the CAT, if you cars registered before Aug '92 that is.

The engine to be transplanted is a late tourer m40 WITH CAT going into a CAT ready m40 saloon.

Will it just drop in with no Cat fitted.

cheers mak :)

Just take the whole lump, loom and ECU etc from the touring and drop it into the saloon. That should be fine, unless Ive overlooked something.

The engine will run fine without the CAT fitted, but you will still need the lambda sensor etc fitted.

I think Im right that the exhaust manifold is the same so you can just mate-up the non CAT exhaust and youre away.
