I was wondering how difficult this is and what racks are suitable?

The E30 I have is a bog standard 1985 316 2 door sedan, the model before they ditched the chrome bumpers.

Finding a pump and brackets will be the hard part, AFAIK any E30 rack will do the job

Or you could fit a e36 rack but that would be more work.
