LSD was optional, usually a 3.07 ratio, and no it will not fit an E30 !

They ought to know better - you buy a 635CSi 210 diff and drop it off with your car for the 2 hours it takes for a straight diff swap............cuzz1510 wrote:roger that gents.it was fritzsbits who said it could
A 635CSi diff WILL bolt to the E30 axle carrier because the four bolt spacings are the same. However you will need custom driveshafts because no E30 outer CV will bolt to the 635CSi diff flanges and 635CSi outer CV's will not fit any E30 drivehaft known to man. E30 diff flanges will not fit a 635CSi diff.
As well as a pair of custom driveshafts you will need a custom rear diff mount because the rear diff mounts are of two totally different types so you would need to have a special diff carrier welded to the boot floor. Then of course you will need to have a shorter prop with a 635CSi end yoke fitted. Then you will find the 3.07 ratio is completely wrong unless you have a 1:1 ratio sport gearbox.
See where we're coming from? We were all trying this LONG before Fritz Bits came along!
Alles Klar?

Could the internals from the 635 diff be transfered over to an E30 diff?

No. It uses the big 210 diff and nothing fits as it's all too big. Forget the 635CSi diff!!eko wrote:Could the internals from the 635 diff be transfered over to an E30 diff?

No. Only the non catalyst cars up to mid/late 1987 used the 3.07 and they were really overgeared. Cat cars used a 3.45 and the Highlines used a 3.64 which geared them up just right. 5500 rpm was 140 mph with the 3.64, so peak power comes at max speed.binxy69 wrote:what if you were fitting an m30 engine and a manual transmission from a 635 csi into an e30? I'm talking about 210 diff and.Andyboy wrote:What are you talking about??
From your previous posts I understood that you was trying to fit 210 diff from E23/E24/E28 to E30 rear subframe. Thats why I asked do you know the distance between left and right output flange in 210 diff. I hope that this time you will understand what I'm talking about.

Understood. But I have no idea, all I know is the diff doesn't fit an E30 without a huge amount of work.Yaninnya wrote: Thats why I asked do you know the distance between left and right output flange in 210 diff.
