just after some advice from you audio experts out there.
have just installed some components in the front of my e30, love the sound quality, they are alpine 6.5inch with seperate crossovers and tweeters cant remember model.
anyhoo, im pretty certain the head unit is having trouble powering them so i need an amp.
i want to add a sub, prob small one as im into sound quality not huge bass.
long and the short of it, i need recommendations for a 4channel amp and sub, not crazy price but i dont want crap either.
cheers boys and girls

Stick with alpine , For sound quality i would use a 10 inch sub as the base is tighter and not in your face as much as a 12inch

Hope this will be of some help

you might be better off with 6 channels this give you front, rear and sub seperate controls, from looking I don't see too much difference in price.
Quite a few brands out there which are good, JBL, Infinity and VIBE are a few. Best to figure out what power you need to go with your speakers, I have been told that you want 1.5 to 2 times the power from your amp.
For example if you have speakers that do 50w RMS then you want an amp with 100-150w RMS although there are a few more things to worry about this should at least narrow down your search for amps to give you a short list, then do some hunting and find the right price. I used Car Audio Security for mine but not been that impressed with the customer service, started my order at the begining of April and I am still waiting for the last set of speakers (said the one I wanted were discontinued and needed to get new stock but I have had to chase them everytime)

i know the components require more to run than normal speakers, have heard minimum is around 70w rms.
was thinking of powering the fronts and some slightly bigger rears (fitted properly in the rer shelf, poss 6x9s) from the amp then if that doesnt deliver the bass, then powering the rears from the head unit as they only really for fill anyway and bridging the other two channels for a small sub.
think ill be looking for about 150w per channel rms, should leave enough for a small sub if need be.
cheers for your input idreambeemer

Personally id go for a seperate amp for your sub so a 4channel for front and rear then a seperate for a 10inch.I just did a box with a 10inch alpin 4ohm and an alpine amp cant remember which model though sorry. Made a box facing through the ski hatch on an e46 and it sounds wicked, wish id put alpine stuff in mine now...
Hope thats of some help, it all came from the car audio center and i defo would NOT recomend them it took 2weeks for the amp which they had in stock to turn up and 4weeks for the sub, and they looked like they been playing football with the boxes.

i got my front compnents fitted at a car audio 'specialist', was never too impressed with the sound. went to alpine dealer with 30years experience got them to check the work, turns out they hadn't even cut hoe into door for speaker to breathe.
wish id just spent the money and gone to the pros first. hopefully the new place can sort out the mess and it will sound as good as i know the kit can sound.
still think im gonna get amp and sub, but am gonna cover the basics first, get the speakers fitted properly first
cheers for your thoughts guys
