Now that ive finally found a place that can host my pictures on a more permanet basis (advertised on one of my pictures!) i can have a few pics of my car up!

Just to recap exactly what the car is, it started life as a 316i and was picked up by Parkside Autos in Worksop to have an engine conversion done on it. An M50 engine from an E34 was dropped in, mated with a E39 close ratio gearbox. They added the SE side skirts, M-tech II front and M-tech I rear spoiler at the same time. Oh and a 2 piece Scorpion Exhaust.

Once i had gotten hold of the car i installed a 3.25 LSD from an M3, since before it had a 3.46 open diff wrongness! Also i had a strong urge to dechrome the car and put on colour coded mirrors which i did right away! In addition the Scorpion midbox was ripped out and replaced with a Powerflow one which improved the sound coming out the tailpipes no end.

More recently ive slapped a BMC airbox instead of the K&N cone filter that was sitting in the middle of the engine bay (excuse the hacksaw on my cylinders, i was attempting some "correction" work). And some Toyo T1-Rs all round.

With a Chip, the car probably has around 200 odd bhp and does 0-60 in 6.34 secs with 1/4 coming up in roughly 15.07 secs with terminal speed about 97.7 mph.

Future plans include getting the Map Light mirror and the Rear Blind ive got sitting around slapped in, perhaps Air Conditioning at a later date or even an S50 conversion for even more power!

Looks nice mate, bet that surprises a few people at the lights! Have you still got the 316 badge on it?

 at the advertising.

Its debadged, but people seem to see the DTM exhaust and notice the sheer noise it makes to back off at the lights usually!

The M-tech II wheel, BMW gear knob, leather handbrake handle, surround i added myself, before it had some nasty (but genuine) Alpina wheel and gearknob, which i offloaded to Karan!

I didnt build it! It came like that for me, ive heard it isnt "that" difficult as far as engine mods go, its harder than an M30 i think because you have to find a custom brake servo and theres exhaust manifold issues for RHD cars with the 24v lumps. Infact i think other zoners might know more about this than me 8O

ive got a tidy saloon i cant help dreaming of an M3 one day, might have to sell em both and go see the bank manager!

Recently ive wondered about conversions and whats the best per Ԛ£ ratio to do.
Thought of an M3 too cause altho mins probably about as fast if not quicker than one in a straight, there would be no comparison come the twisties

wil

you have my favourite under-bonnet look of all time. it kust looks so at home there it's untrue. when your car appeared in the parkside article it had me straight down my local tuners pointing it out and asking if they could do it.... a true inspiration.

Cheers Placey!
Have a good read into the conversion if it interests you, some local zoners i know dont think it would be too hard to replicate! If so maybe use an M52? (exactly the same dimensions as my engine) Could "probably" do most of it in a well equipped home garage!

Its shockingly clean right now, i'll probably polish it every 6 months or so to protect the paint! Usually its rough and ready like a few of the dirtier pics ive posted up! Just blends into the background of cars that way! :)

Its not too bad as it goes, aslong as you dont take the P!$$ out of it, it wont bite back! The engines progressive so theres no sudden burst of power to unstick the rear either.

mrLEE30: Im almost certain theyre from a 944 Turbo, i should be able to get a pic on the weekend.

It looks stunning and I havent even washed it "properly" yet 8O

Id either sell it and get some sort of modern warm/hot hatch or i'd "really" start spending on this one and get a quicker rack, suspension, sound proofing and air con...

It would be very good if I did all that to my car, id have to keep it tho, cant justify selling something like that!
The cost/time/effort will be large tho and finding something modern that fits my bill as the "perfect all round car" is frankly easier :?

I'd fit the air-con for you if you can find a complete set up, only thing is you'd have to re-fit the viscous fan in order to fitt in the rad for the a/c with it's additional fan. Apart from that i think you should keep her mate and get a small 5hitter to run around in with good fuel consumption.

P.S. did Brian do your bonnet for you??
