Hi Guys, my rad has sprung a massive leak and I'm not a position to go and buy a nice shiny new one. Is there any other options other than the E28 one? Has any one used an E34 535 rad?
I've trial fitted my nearly new 325 rad and that fits perfectly but am unsure as to whether it would be upto the job, what do you guys reckon?
Charlie

I would think a 325 rad in good order is up to the job. 325's aren't exactly marginal for cooling.
If it goes in and connects up easily, then try it. Temperature gauge will tell you if it's adequate.

The e36 m3 rad or 324 td rad is probably one of the better ones as it fits, and it's alot deeper for extra cooling. They can be had for abouyt 80 quid from felgenhaus on ebay, and yes a 535 e34 rad will fit too.
Sowil an e36 rad. Mines a 318td or something like that. It fits, but doesnt have the bung for the aux fan so looking for a new one!

I'm using an E34 535i rad in my 335.
It is a little thicker than the E28 one so it's very tight to the crank pulley (unless you cut off the air-con belt drive) and distributor cap, even in position 3.
All you need is another right hand E30 lower mounting 'cup' on the left hand bottom rad mount and to shorten the top and bottom hoses. It's almost as if it was made to fit an E30!
Martin.

Excellent, cheers guys I was rather hoping there would be alternative radiators that I could use
I'll give the 325 rad a go then and be on the look out for an E34 535 rad, slightly easier to come across than some of the other suggestions I would have thought.

it's a shame the E32 735 one won't go in as i have a mint one here but the end tanks won't go between the chassis legs.
it's very similar to the E28 535 one apart from the end tank shape

Yeah, I looked into to that too, it just won't happen.
That reminds me, there are also two sizes of E34 535I rads, I drove about 60 miles to collect one I won off Ebay to find that out!
I can measure mine tomorrow if you like Charlie.

Martin that would be great if you could measure it
That E32 rad end tanks must be huge if it dosen't fit between the chassis legs

She looks too good to eat Gareth!
Radiator width is about 57cm of the core and 67cm overall. The wider one won't fit!
I think they did a taller one too, I think there is room for that one though.

I haven't !
Not sure I want to now!
A mate of mine was in Amsterdam once though, went off with a gorgeous, stunning looking prozzie.
A few minutes later came running back, out of breath, crying out " She's only got a ****ing c**k " .
