Heater matrix valve is a common one, in the absence of actual holes in the floorpan!

This is very often the scuttle drain getting blocked and excess water overflowing behind the pedals and down into the footwell. The drain is under the bonnet on the driver's side bulkhead and looks like an 'elephants trunkk' pointing down. It's only made of rubber so pull it off and clean it out. Replacement is just like putting a grommit into a hole.
