Karan,
speak to Paul @ Infinicar Automotive (type into google). He frags M5's for a living.
If you do find one make sure it functions the resonator flap on the inlet plenum properly. Sometimes the ECU's have a fault where they don't operate the flap which results in a very flat S38.
The S38B36 self tests the flap on starting of the engine so it's easy to tell if the ECU if fully operational.
Good luck...

ok got a new ecu...]]
and it works.
car was running rough and misfiring and all sorts of wrongness so booked an mot today so it was legal to drive, and took it to birds where phil (hero!!) put a diagnostics on it and saw that the lambda probe was shagged, and also the intake air temps were very high (50degc) due to a complete lack of air filter and shielding around the maf -LOL so phil said get a new lambda, and GET an air filter and shield it nicely with ally sheet. drove rest of way home with lambda plug disconnected (so it just reads an average value). Car was now still a bit dodgy at idle but while in the revs the car was running pretty much spot on...
and goddam it is really reallly fast, a lot better than i expected it to be. Thankfully the radiator is coping also and keeping gauge halfway. 3rd gear from 80-110mph on the limiter is silly quick. I think the car is quite a bit faster than my silvia too, torque is immense and car sounds great!!!!!
so now all i gotta do is:
sort filter and feeds and most importantly shielding
fit new lambda
rebleed brakes and fit bigger master cylinder from e32 735 as stock iS cannot handle m3 calipers
fit an oil cooler with fan on it
also fit another pull thru fan on engine side for extra cooling when at idle
and finally sort something with the bonnet out as the hole looks a bit silly, also fit an iS lip
just wanna thank everyone for helping me get this done and finally 'on the road' in the loosest sense of the word. especially the following people who helped me in various ways:
Demlot
Dave
Pete
Phil crouch
Ian Haynes
Jonb
Simon13
Polay
also radtec racing radiators and hayward and scott for building an awesome manifold and system.
will reupdate with pics and acceleration video to show the speed of this thing when the above things are done!!
cheers everyone
Karan
