How much oil do i need for the lsd on my sport, i am ordering oil in for a service......so need advice a.s.a.p

Is it really necessary to change the gearbox oil? If so how much will i need for it and the LSD

before you can order it you need to know the colour of the tag which determines the grade of oil ou require, as for capacity I'm not sure it should be in Haynes but I cant find it!
Its probabl a job you could do yourself if you wanted, but I don't think its an annual type service item.

Yep ive been told Castrol SAF-XJ is perfect for 99% of diffs so thats what im going for. Hows the 2.7 running jonny? You get your liscence back?
What about gear box oil, i got a short shifter from a z3 in her, is it worth changing the oil?

best bet is to call up your local bmw dealer
i called mine telling them i was gonna buy some they are more than happy to help then popped down halfrauds and it was a tenner cheaper

Gearbox (manual) will be 1.2 litres of SAE 80w gear oil.

Yes mate got the license back
but no car at the mo lol sent her away to get a wee tidy up (mainly the rear arches)
Check what gear bag you have mate, should be one of the getrag ones and see what grade you need. I've only replaced mine the once and the only reason I did was... it was out of the car at the time

It's like any other oil, it breaks down over time and needs changing.
Gearbox and diff oil only needs to be changed at an inspection 2 service (every other major service) so every couple of years.

Mines of the road at the moment too, getting lights sorted for MOT.
