Hi guys,
Anybody know how to get some decent power from a 325i motorsport? As ive finally decided to keep her.
I keep getting my butt kicked by kids in modded rs tuDo's, and my mates saff cos just eats me!
Ive got about 5k to spend on the engine any ideas!

I'm guessing the E39 M5 engine and gear box would be more than the 5k budget ?

If thats a Motorsport Cab it might make some purists cry that your considering to mod it.
Personally i say go for it if u like the E30 shape, but even then maybe selling the Motorsport and getting a normal E30 to work on might be more profitable...

Ԛ£5000 buys a 230-240bhp Bexleys conversion.
Best thing about it is that it looks like a standard m20 on the outside. Very little hassle.
The characteristics will change alot however. You'll have samish bottom end torque but ince it hits 3500rpm its serioulsy quick.
Will comfortably do 14.5 sec 1/4 mile. Will comfortably keep up with E36 M3's as karan's 2.7 has proven.
Will comfortably keep up with an e34 M5 upto around 80mph.
Turbo charging is also an option being looked into by a few people, reliability and results are totally unknown though but you areguranteed a serioulsy stupidly fast machine which will destroy everything.

Most e30's are alot more than 1175kg's. Sports with leather can touch 1250kg or even more.
Aerodynamics certainly play a part.
Turbo charged m20 must kick arse though!

e30 out handles Vauxhalls easy - i kept my mates 2.0 16v Corsa pegged round some back lanes in my 316i Auto with a dodgy ariflow meter, Just got M-tech suspension on mine with 325i front brakes (drums on the rear atm!!)

Ԛ£5000 wont get you an e39 m5 v8 engine and box( i dont think)
but it will buy you a whole e34 m5 car and enough left over to spend on other upgradeable parts.
if i had a budget of 5 grand thats the route i would go.
over 300 brake, and not in a small power band like some turbo cars

i'd go for the bexley 2.7 ask Karan about it,
his car even takes e36 m3's

I probably dont know what Im talking about compared to you lot but from what Iv seen a 325i turbo is savagely fast!!Seen a 5 minute video clip of one going along motorways in finland and nothing compares!!!You can get about 350bhp easy I think!!!Go for turbo plus you get a dump valve!!!

Whats the most power out of an m20 possible? I want to be able to stay with cosies! We need to show these ford boys the way home, thats if they dont blow up of course.

Go for a supercharger and some other few mods and you will get good power with reliability. Failing that, i'd go for the E36 M3 lump (Something i'm personally going to do once i source one) That will give you 300bhp on tap before you even start with chips and exhaust etc. I guess everyone has their own ideas of what to do with the cash, but untimatly, it all comes down to you dude.

The turbo route will be by far the cheapest way to get a reliable 240bhp +.

6-7 psi will create a real quick machine.

15.05 is damn quick if these things are at all acurate.

Jim was running nearly 15 psi in his last few runs, the lump popped when the vacum hose popped off and the turbo ran up some 30psi before it went BANG in a big way, con rod snapped and exited via the side of the block.
Thing is tho it's a std block, so he's bolting on another head an off he goes. Bet he's glad he spent Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ on a uprated lump, which is a large part of the reason I've invested Ԛ£1000's in the bits for mine as I know I can get another lump for little cash when it does blow up.
And power wise, well easy 250 to 350 is poss, Jims was 296bhp at the wheels!!
I can't fooking wait to get it fitted, 3 weeks till MS arrives, then WOOOOOOOOOOOSH CHIRP!!

325 turbo's have been proven to push big BHP and torque already.
Its a bolt on modification with mapping work. Much easier than installing a cossie engine and just as fast.
There was a white touring 325 turbo at lakeside a while back, man that was quick! he said he was having no problems with keeping up with cossies.
All you have to do is look on the web to see what 325i turbo's are capable of.

turboing is cool....
but ure never gonna have response of a tuned NA engine.... but u also cant beat the turbo shove

That would cost bucks as youd need new pistons ontop of everything else.
Im sure you'll be happy with m5 power once its done. You wont be thinking about turbo 325's after that.
