Trying to remove my sump without much success.

Its a 320i automatic. I have removed all the bolts on the sump and the sump is now loose but there isn't enough room to get it off.

So i've undone the engine mounts and tried jacking the engine up to give some more clearance and nothing is moving? the engine is still solid....

I can't figure out why the engine is not moving at all? but i must admit there does not look any room for the engine to move with it being a an auto i assume the box is bigger? and there seems to room for the box to move.......

Not sure what to do next?

don't know about the gearbox size issue, but that was the way I got mine out(its a 325),had it on axle stands with the engine mounts loosened, trolley jack under the gearbox, then a scissor jack between the engine mount and crossmember, this gave me enough space to get the sump out without removing the oil pick-up pipe, hope you manage to get it done m8

i take you have removed the flywheel inspection plate.

if so then the sump should drop onto the subframe. you need to drop the steering rack from the subframe.

you also need to undo the oil pump and the oil pickup which is awkward to get to, but you wont be abill to remove the sump without doing so.

refitting is the reverse of removal. helps if you got skinny hands.
