My central locking has been slowly getting less reliable, and today gave up altogether. The indicators still flash off the fob but the locks don't budge. Due to the gradual nature of the failure, where should I look first?

firsth thing to test the central locking by the key

if it works then its a alarm prob

if they dont check the fuses or the a pillar on the drivers door its the wiring junction bit

It'll fail again! Sort the red/black wires out before it decides to lock you out!

Could also be the Central Locking Relay in the drivers footwell, behind/below the speaker.

Has failed on 2 of my cars in the past.

http://www.mesaperformance.com/faqs/centlock.html

Section 6 lists a step by step guide to trouble shooting the central locking - helped trace mine to a dodgy central locking relay? The safety cutout had melted. Plus there was some corrosion, so ended up replacing it, but at least I proved the locks and wiring were good first

Can the relay fail slowly or is it an all or nothing thing?
