Anyone know if an E30 MTEC kit will fit a pre-face lift E30 Coupe?

Has anyone done this and if so did they have any issues? I've heard that there might be issues with slightly different bumper fitments.

Also is there any difference between a 4 door and 2 door kit?

Thanks.

You can choose between the M Tec I and M Tec II kits - I can't decide which one I prefer but they're very different!

The Tec I kit will bolt straight on but if you really like the Tec II kit you'll have to slightly modify the rear bumper (it sounds difficult although I'm sure there's enough people on here who've done it).

The differences between the 2-door and 4-door kit are that the door pods (the "covers" that screw into the bottom half of the doors and wings) are different and the side skirts are about 4cm longer for the 4-door.

I'll try go find a pic of each of Tec I and Tec I for you :D

Here's an M Tech II kit, this one belongs to McLuths on here.

And here's an M Tech I, unfortunately it's now dead , but will be back in a new shell :D

Belongs to zaust...

(The "eyebrows" don't come with the kit, they're not made by BMW but a few people decide to put them on as it makes the car look a bit meaner. They're about 20 quid at the most I think.)

Thanks very much for the advice (and pics Zayyan) - I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to modding, I had a 2001 E46 before this and my missus has a 2003 Compact but have always wanted an E30 as a project car, its a design classic - but I've got so many questions ....

She reckons its a banger but I can see the potential ..... :D

I reckon the MTEC II looks a bit more up to date than the MTEC I kit, but both look cracking, I always thought I'd go for the Alpina replicas, but now I've seen the 5 spoke (Momo Arrows I think) - the debate in my head continues.

I'll keep an eye on the For Sale section, I'm sure a kit will will come shorty, at least I know what will fit now !!

Maybe I'll post some pre- and post pics in the photo section so you can see the differences as it progresses. At the moment its a standard 1985 323i Coupe in Red with 64K miles and the factory fit cloth Recaro sport seats. I'm thinking a leather retrofit will be happening at some point when I can afford it. :D I was thinking black leather with a red car, but having seen Naylor04's stunning grey leather .... not sure whether it'd go with the red tho

Think I prefer the MTEC II kit.

Wonder if I ought to get the MTEC II front bumper and MTEC I rear bumper.

I like the skirts that are already fitted.

Hmmm .... :?

the rest goes straight on

Yeah, the AV Kit is really nice, not dissimilar to the MTEC Kit, but the only thing that bothers me is I've heard aftermarket kits can be a b*tch to fit, I guess its not too bad if you're shelling out for the fitting as well.

The car needs some bodywork doing first, a few superficial rust spots sorting and maybe a rear arch, once that's done I can get the kit fitted. It still boils down to having the cash though

Anyone ordered kits from Autovogue before and had them fitted?

I'm begining to think that to get the car how I want it is gonna cost a fortune and take ages. Maybe I'd be better cutting my losses and buying one with the kit already fitted. That said mine only has 64K on the clock and is mechanically sound. But its a pre-face lift so its got all that DISGUSTING CHROME.

Aaarrrgghhhh ..... :banghead: don't know what to do !!!!!
