It'd be rude not to. 91J 318i, typical M40 camshaft lobe delete option, non working driver's window (plastic runners pulled out), one shagged trailing arm bush. But she's coded up, front foggies, recent centre zorst, brand new rad and it drives really well. Has a set of 175w JBL rear speakers and a Pioneer head unit. Probably going to rape it for good bits (swapping them with crap) and shove it on the ElectronicBay. Should do 200 quid without an MOT because it looks halfway decent. Shame they can't hear the cam..........clackclackclackclackclack...... :-)

That is typical bay tat. Andyboy likes to dirty his hand with the council folk from time to time. Makes him feel 'street'

Last october i bought a 318 on the "L" for 70 quid. It ran well but had not MOT. Needed an ABS pump, pads, front shocks, handbrake work and a drivers seat base. Stood us all in at about 350 notes. Stuck it on eBay and got £850 cash on it. Heres a shot or 2 of it. It was quite clean, usual scabby rear arches and a few scab on the doors but not being funny, I seriously thought of keeping it for a local hack to just run into the ground.

These are so cheap at the moment. But you will make money on that one Andy, no probs

Hmm, niiiice wheeltrims.

M40 wrongness. It needs a cam, badly.

Fixed the driver's electric window today - araldited the alloy runner back onto the glass, clean and lubricate everything and adjust the glass position. It works again! For now..........

Best thing is, no rot at all and a far more MOT'able prospect than a £75 E30. Might sell it as is for £200 or MOT it and chuck a good used cam into it. It'll be a £600 car then, but life is never that simple!

Don't change the cam, just put some really thick oil in it to shut it up a bit. I like the thought of another m40 being killed.

The rest of the car looks (shockingly) good though!

A cam change isn't hard on an M40 - cam cover off, belt off (after locking crank at TDC), remove the caps and the cam lifts out. I might have a good used cam and followers coming (bollocks to buying new) and if I get it, I'll do the MOT and draw £5-600 out of it. We'll see.

Sacrifice the turd to the god of dead m42's!!!

I don't know what I prefer; the thought of it being annihilated or the thought of some mug parting with his hard earned... no wait.... hard signed for, to annihilate the shitter himself!!!!

Gotta be worth depriving some chav of his Buckfast money.

Sorry andy.

It does fuck all for me. I would give 200 cash notes if it lacked jacking points/inner arches, and stank of damp dogs. As theres no getting away from that e30 qudos...

Andy, dont you know people who ould MOT it without seeing the car? Surely a man of your age... i mean "experience, wisdom and resources" is aware of such a skilled MOT tester?

Don't need any of that malarkey! My MOT bloke is very good - as long as it's not a rusted out deathtrap he'll put a ticket on, and advise on the bits that need doing on the understanding that I do them when I get the turd back.
If I can get 200 quid as is I'll let it go. I'd rather be putting effort into something worth £1500 rather than £500 but every hole's a goal as they say in Bristol!

Hes not that council....

Getting an mot from your mate down the pub is a bit sad really. I used a fair few garage's untill i found one that was more lenient than the others i have used. They are a good bunch, and i want to keep it that way, so i never take the piss. I always turn up on time etc.

Not anymore. All the wheels and tyres by my back door are gone, whole rear yard weeded and swept! Looking like a des res now mate. It's the E36's that did this - a higher class of car demands a higher class of owner. :D

is a bicycle a higher class than an E30? I can never tell... Sometimes I figure that if I turned up at a girls house on a bike she'd laugh at me, but then I know that to women(most anyway) an E30 is just ANOTHER old car.

Well I've decided to do it. Went to the breakers and got a good rear seat, front seat base and an absolutely mint as new cam and followers (Febi) for £40. The cam looks like a replacment because it looks pretty new and is still grey. Spent this afternoon cleaning up and Waxoyling brake pipes and farting about. I reckon with the cam fixed (I'm going to put a new belt on as well), cleaned up and with a new MOT it must be worth £6-700. Got F*** all else to do this week so might as well get busy and earn a few shekkels!

Nice new cam is now bolted into M40 head. New belt and tensioner plus water pump tomorrow, oil and filter change and she should be up and running smoooooothly by this time tomorrow.
Fitted the front legs (with recent shocks) and the rear exhaust box from DaveNoTouring's write-off this morning so it's slowly turning into a car again. If nothing else it uses up the bits I have! :D

Here's the cam - totally wankered:

Rockers aren't a lot better!

The one in the foreground should have a smooth pad - look how concave it is now. Cause? Blocked spray bar and a total lack of oil. There are blue spots on the cam where it's been practically red hot. Good old M40, gem of an engine. winkeye

New cam/rockers, water pump, cam belt and small roller, fan belt/pas belt, oil and filter - and she purrs! Got to do the trailing arm bushes tomorrow and ready the beast for an MOT.

The things we do to earn £500. I should really know better.

Your gonna earn 500 out of that? After all that spending? You must have some serious victim lined up :)
