Apologies for all the questions of l8. Plus this has prob been asked before. But anyway here we go.....

All my black plastic trim Headlight surrounds, bumper inserts etc are looking pretty tired. Ive attacked them with the back to black and they look great..........for about a week, then go faded again. So was thinking of splashing a coat of black paint on them of some sort as a more permanent fix.

Has anyone done/tried this? If so how effective? Do you have pics?

Cheers

Get a can of matt black and slap it on. Works a treat and lasts a long time.

I'll have pics of mine in a day or so.

Can of matt black and spray away in the least dustyest area you can use.

No need for primer.

Oh and don't use any back to black near it will react with the silicone in it and make a mess.

Take them off, scrub them with a washing up brush and some fairy liquid, let them dry then spray away.

Thanks for all the feedback lads and thanks Choppa7 for the link. Think i have found my mission for the weekend. :D Still waitin on me Ronal wheels which are taking forever. But once they are here and fitted I will post some before and after pics with the bits painted and wheels on etc.

PS. Only prob im facing is I want to keep the chrome grille and just paint the Black bits. This could be a prob. :?

hey mate

i did some a couple of weekends ago. you can take the chrome kidneys off of the grill and then spray the grill with the headlight surrounds.

i went a bit overboard - cleaned them, sanded them down a bit, primed them (3 light coats) and then did about 5 light coats of halfrauds satin black and they look seriously good... and will probably last. but i guess i won't know that as i just sold the car!

i did all this on a seriously hot day so was able to let them dry and set properly in 10 minutes in direct sun before adding more light coats.

Its easy to do the grill without doing the kidneys (chrome bit) too.

Take it out (two clips at the top) Then carefully, so as not to break the tabs, prise it out from the grill. Each kidney comes off individually.

I looked at just doing the kidneys but I'm too ham-fisted for all that "careful not to break the clips" malarky.

Just rub it and spray it ...... hmm I might write that above my bed
