Girl ran her peugeot 206 into my parked 320 outside my house this morning. No obvious bodywork damage - slight mark on the rear quarterpanel. But she hit my rear driver's side wheel and bent my trailing arm, rear axle carrier (subframe), and bent the wheel. Wheel's grating along next to the bodywork now on the front edge of the wheel arch.

Local garage is going to source a set of 325 rear frame and trailing arms (with discs on, an upgrade yay!), fit the whole lot, and check the alignment for £700. I know it's a high price, but they'll do it properly, and I can trust them, and I just don't have the time to deal with it at the mo.. funeral next week, huge exams the week after, just dealing with the insurance is doing my head in enough.

Plan so far, tell me if anyone's got better suggestions.
Talk to the girl's parents, and see if they will give me the £700 straight away.

If not, go the insurance route, they'll write off the car as Cat C or D hopefully, hopefully they'll value the car about £1000-£1200? (Reason I think it's a write-off is that they have to use new parts in insurance repairs, which would be about £1500 I'd imagine for new trailing arms and subframe, correct me if I'm wrong) I can then buy it back off them cheaply, and fix her up for £700, and maybe make a slight profit and have disc brakes as an added bonus. Only thing is it'll look very bad in the car's history, but as I'm not planning to sell her... not a problem.

She admitted liability, and I've got the details of a witness who saw her turn down the road and drive straight along the side of my car. At least it damaged her car a lot more than mine.

Not a F**king happy bunny :shoot1:

Ps now in the market for a very good condition BBS 15"inch wheel if anyone's got one going cheap with decent tyre on it? Please not a vibratey one, I've had enough aggro for one year now.

PPS here's what she was looking like 3 weeks or so ago, though this is before I'd spend a whole day cleaning her up with T-cut, polish and wax. Looks lovely now, but the rear wheels just in the wrong place :(

Unlucky.

Simplest route is to ask for the cash from her folks.

Best but more complicated route would be the insurance one as it nets you a profit.

One think I can promise - won't end up on the scrap heap. Got too attached for that.

Well I just want it back how it was - would rather they just gave me the money as it's only going to cost them more insurance wise in the long run. Whether they'll see it like that I don't know. I'm not wanting to screw people over.

I asked for worse case scenario if everything goes wrong. Don't want to end up out of pocked. And it includes the parts. And I don't have the time. And I need the car as quick as possible! All adds up.

Well hopefully won't be as high as £700. I said to give their highest potential figure, and that's always dangerous to say to a garage - I think that might have even involved getting it on a jig to straighten the chassis.

Bad news mate!! Just reading about all your hard work on the photo section!!

Blame ziggy, if he hadn't sold a part to you from his chrome collection, it wouldn't have happened!!

You could potentially source a decent shell for that money.

Not sure if things have changed but a good few years ago i worked for a big crash repair garage and we use to use second hand parts on insurance jobs to save the car being written off.It had to be agreed by the car owner and insurer.Just a possible thought if you go the insurance route.Sorry to hear about the car. :(

You're right - it was black plastic, so I couldn't bear to have it in the garage, ruining my life.

A tad unfair though - my car actually has less chrome on it than when it came out of the factory...

Lol what's with zoners and thinking that sexual favours make up for hundreds of pounds worth of damage? Or am I the odd one out? :) I suppose that's where it's good having a good girlfriend - means I'm not as sex-starved as you lot :poke:

Well even though I've been very nice to the girl she's now refusing to talk to me - wants to just go through insurance. So I thought f**k it, I'll go for as much as I can. The insurance company offered me a corsa as a hire car, which I declined, saying it wasn't an equal driving experience to a 2.0l BMW on the motorways. So after a bit of polite discussion on the phone, I'm now the proud owner for a couple of weeks of a brand new Saab 9-5, with 260hp. Nice... cheered me up a bit.
