Alright people,

My service indicator is on red and its time for a service.

So its new spark plugs, oil filter, oil and air filter.

Is there anything else i need to do?

Is this a pretty simple operation to do yourself?

Is there anything i need to look out for?

Any suggestions appreciated

Ah yes how the hell do you reset the indicator afterwards!!

assuming its an m20 (6 cyl engine 2.0/2.5 etc)

new sparks should be NGK BPR6ES (most guys on here use them)

get a good quality mineral oil and possibly some flushing oil

could replace your air filter with a K&N panel filter if you want

Possibly change the distributor cap and check the condition of your HT leads

I'd give the coolant a change too, as the aluminium heads seem sensitive to it being clean and good.

also check your tappet clearances (see the guide under articles on the 'zone)

should prob take you about 4hrs if you take it easy and do it right

hope this helps

Its a good thing to do - see this thread for the improvements I noticed from some simple 'servicing'.

You're also supposed to check gearbox and diff fluid levels and change brake and clutch fluid if it hasn't been done for a couple of years. Assuming its a 6 cylinder you should also think about the cam belt.
