So I got those nice little tweeter pods from the BMW shop, you know the ones that fit behind the wing mirrors, removed the old blanks, connected the already there wires which were complete with spade connections and blew the speakers because they didn`t come with a crossover nor were crossovers installed despite the wires already hooked up, I assumed that would have been taken care of at the factory! Yes, I know, I can hear 'I told you so`mutterings in the background. However new speaker kit came with replacements so all is not lost. Just thought I`d share this with those about to do the same.

Hi, intersting topic hope you can help,
I have a pair of tweeter pods but have not fitted them yet for exactly the same reason of not sure how they should be connected up.
There does not seem to be any wiring behind the blanks apart from the electric wing mirror connections.
So what do I need to connect them and where to.
Help appreciated

Go back to page 10 - 'fitting speaker wire in door'' ,and page 5 - `where does everyone fit their tweeters?' (xlnt information). There are quite a few other postings which will unfold the mystery. There is a lot of good info on this site for just such a topic. From my experience the bmw tweeters need a crossover ( i think all tweeters need a crossover). I was surprised they didn`t come with the pods, but if you don't know you have to ask for them, how are you to know to ask? Or just give it to a good ICE shop, and blame them if they **ck it up!

Where did you get the tweeter pods to replace the mirror blanks?

bout 60-70 from the dealer, i got a set off ebay about week ago for £32 guy was a zoner too (thanks charle30)
they came with crappy nokia tweeters that im trying to get out at min.

for decent sound any set of component speakers should come with its own crossover to split the sound and to be honest id wire it all up yourself or get a decent ice shop to do it, with brand new connections and cabling.

will prob need to mout the crossover in the door somewhere as there isnt much room in the door cable bot for more than one set of wires.

hope this helps, will let you know how mine pans out. :D
