Found some spots of rust on my Touring. Nothing serious, the odd bit on the tailgate and tinges on the front valance.
What's the way to do this?
I was going to scrub it all of with a steel brush then spray on some inhibitor? It's in areas that aren't seen anyway.
Or is this a bodge.
Ruuuuuuussssssttttt....

If you do that, make sure you paint over it within about 3 hours i think it is! (sure that's what they recommend)
Oh, and make sure you've got all the rust removed....are you using some of that rust treatment stuff that makes the metal go black wherever it comes into contact with rust (can't remember the name...think Loctite make some)?

just kidding Ratch
But for the stuff the M42 does not shift, yes I'll use that contact stuff then paint over that - but with what?
Want something hardcore.
Pretty sure it's called 'Kurust' (a play on cure rust, something like that..)aceraf wrote: that rust treatment stuff that makes the metal go black wherever it comes into contact with rust (can't remember the name...think Loctite make some)?

After rust killer/kurust etc. try "Hammerite number 1 rust beater". Grey/beige primer and it's fine to rub down and paint over. Normal hammerite is too sticky to put anything over.
