if i replace my thermostat on my 325 do i use any sort of gasket between the housing and the cover (basically the 2 cast bits the thermostat sits between)? nothings specified but theres the remains of something stuck to both parts, possibly an instant gaket?
bottom of my rad, drivers side theres a blue press fit plastic plug what is this for?
couple of rad/thermostat Q's

You should have an 'o' ring on the thermostat itself.

yeah im getting the stat itself, the o-ring and the gasket for the housing joins the engine so could this black remains be the old o-ring? whre i prized the housing apart there was no stat or O-ring in it!
wasnt to osure if i needed to use an instant gasket or if the 2 housing parts offered a good enough seal

They work perfectly with the o ring in place. Had the same issue with mine on the weekend, seem to get eaten up with age...

Blue plug is a drain tap, but it's usually easier to pull a hose off.
