Just above the positive terminal on the battery, theres some sort of black plastic cover (which is being tied together with some material in the pic)

Whats the part and how important is the cover which seems to be broken if its being tied together?

It can be taken off it just there to protect the dizzy cap abit.

yeah, that's def the cover for the distributor, i see there the carburettor model
