Just used RainX
Moderator: martauto
I have used it before on my crash helmet but never thought it was much good. I did a big cleaning session on my car a couple of weeks back and used RainX on the front screen.
Just been out in the rain and wow amazing. The rain was actually running up the screen when your driving along, coupled with some new wipers im very impressed with the results.

I agree it is a product that does what it claims... but it doesn't last very long.
Instruction on the bottle but its something like wipe on, wait for it to go misty, reapply, pour water on the screen and buff off with a kitchen towelhubble1990 wrote:Hi Cotty.
How is this stuff actually applied?? Is it simply wipe on buff off, or left on to dry then buff off??
Thanks

we used to use this stuff when kart racing, always found it was no good unless you were doing 100mph+
Well at 50/60 mph the rain is just beading up and running up the window.
I never really found it worked that well on a crash helmet when I was karting but that was probably because most of the time you are not going fast enough. Only hitting 75mph on the straight at Clay Pigeon rest ot the time your in tight corners and spray from the front wheel straight into your visor.

Rain-X is fantastic stuff though I'd agree with orangecurry that it wears off fairly quickly. It got me home when the wipers packed up in a mate's Fiesta on the motorway. Above 60 mph it worked brill. Got a bit hairy at low speeds though.
I also tried their anti-fog stuff once and found it to be much less impressive. It just made the windows smeary and was a bugger to shift too.

3 Sisters was the fastest track I ever raced at for top speed 100+ with a 69 sprocket on the rear

the soarer lads all swear by PIAA silicone wiper blades, damn pricey at £60 a pair but the difference is supposed to be outstanding.

If you have the 2 can's stage 1 and 2 then all you need to do is spray stage 2 lightly once a month.. Was shown that this has the same effect with dust/ sand.Cotty180 wrote:What is the conserver? can't I just reapply it?zaust wrote: But you must use the conserver once a month or it brakes down and removes itself... Also had mike brewer in the show room to promote the product 2 weeks ago..(got his face alover it) And he test drove one of my cutomers.. helped with the sale no end..
am a fan of the rain-x too. seems to mess up the car shampoo bubbles making them flat. am sure there is a scientific polymer-based reason bit who cares.
your can sleep in your car but you cant race your house
