I've got one of those reset tools which works fine on my car, but on the other Tourer i'm doing up, it wont reset the Inspection light on the dash.

Is this a sign of the battery on the board dying or am i missing something else??

Pretty sure it's the SI board, had the same problem with my touring, replaced the SI board with one out of my breaker (brand new one fitted a year ago from Munichs :D ) and all is fine now!

It could also be the battery on the SI board, simple to replace, i would try that before replaceing the board.

Thanks for this suggestion - tried it today - for a good 5 minutes but it still didn't go out. Looks like i need to get into the dash and replace either the board or the battery.

MrLee - you say this is easy - what's the process?

Here's some instructions on battery replacement although I've never tried it myself.

i dont know how old your car is but check that if its not a later car they dont have re-chargeable batteries but lithium ones so strip it and see first, the lithium ones are available but not as easy to source the old ni-cads are available almost anywhere but it is an easy job to do the soldering can be a bit tricky
