Are you looking forward to getting it back on the road for the summer? Can't wait to see the car. It's about time you planned a road trip down here to supervise my wiring.

I hope to be on the road asap but with no wheels its sat on axle stands
I've got 2, 4 stud wheels on the back and 2, 5 stud hubs on the front and no 5 stud wheels. So until i get the wheels,it aint going no where.
Also got no car at the moment as i blew the gearbox on my range rover trying to get out of this :
So im buggered at the mo
Once its done im up for a trip down your way for sure, would also like to get together with Ian.
I've been through water over the bonnet before but that stuff was proper bog !! it just sank.It was deeper further forward but drove it back to where it conked out as i think driving backwards filled the exhaust and caused it to stall. The engine was up to its rocker covers in water
The mats in the footwells were floating !! Been cleaning the mud out of the relays which are under the seats ever since
m3 engine into e30 and range rover into a bog..you like getting your self into sticky situations id say..
any pics of engine sitting mint in the bay with bonnet off..and all auxillaries connected..if so can i rob it for my wallpaper..
thinkin of gettin a m power cover for my m50..ya knoe the american one..cheeky i know and fake i know but its as close as ill get while being a student
fairplay to ya for doing the conversion

With you being a student I doubt you can warrant the £80 for a plastic cover
Ooops, dont laugh, had a few runs in the hammerite on the backing plates ! Many thanks to Dameon for them :
Oh still need some pads though.I've ordered ebc redstuff.I have fitted the proper disk retaining bolts but i just wound the wheel nuts in also so i dont loose them.
Heres an engine shot for brian,i think at the start of this thread there is a pic with the bonnet off. :
at the end of the e30 4 cylinder engine harnes cover there is a square bit of plastic in the battery tray against the firwall.. i was wodnering if you have the part number for that.. because i cannot find it on the real oem list but i have the long cover
Finally got the red stuff pads and wheels on ( the front ).Need spacers though.I've taken the spring clip off the caliper but alloy is just rubbing on the caliper.I've ordered 5mm eibach pro spacers ,just hope the wheel still fits in the arch as it very close now.I will take a better picture when i move it off the drive. Also fitted some H+R springs to raise it slightly. Also fitted the m3 eccentric bushes so thats moved wheel forward slightly.
Right ,
got the spacers today.Came in a stupidly large box :
5mm spacer in place :
It clears the caliper but im concerned now as the bloody wheel is poking out the arch :
Dont know what to do now. They looked as though they may just clear without the spacer but now they stick out.
I wonder if i'd have gotten away with a 3mm spacer.Every little bit counts. Its very close to caliper but with spring off and no spacer it only just cought caliper body.
ANy ideas peeps ?

James,
Get the sodding thing working first !! dont make me come down there
Im working on it mate - just the exhaust manifold to go, but my luck doesnt seem to hold out with those, youve seen the problem with the group buy
Ive just about saved enough $$$ to do the suspension, brakes (possibly new wheels) and the respray, but before spending out I want to make sure it runs properly and that means I need an exhaust manifold - also got to convince the GF that she doesnt want a holiday this year

i can see it now james.......
andy, i cant understand the caliper spring touching the rim
as there's hundreds of m3's running these rims.
what about the thickness of material ( on the disc ) where it mounts to the hub?
Simon,
Yeah there brand new pads, and new disks.Only just catch the caliper.
Well the way i see it is :
Option 1.
The wheel only just took the paint off the caliper with no spacer fitted and no spring clip.If i could bin or take it off for a while until pads wear down then i could just grind back the caliper slightly as it is only cast steel and pretty thick.Would this be ok without the spring/retainer clip ?
Option 2.
Machine down the pads enough to get wheel on without spacers.Dont really want to do this, because pads wont last as long and i paid £90 for the buggers !
Option 3.
Roll the arches.
Option 4.
Try a 3mm spacer.
what do you think i should do ? Also does anyone have a 3mm spacer they can sell to me or even lend me to try. These pro spacers were £35 so dont fancy buying more if they dont fit.
On the m3 the 5mm spacer wouldn't be a problem as Ian said, because of the wider arches.
Andy, mine dont seem to stick out as much as yours and I think our setup is the same. I do seem to have quite a bit of toe-in though. Whats the offset of your front wheels?
I remember having to grind down the retaining springs slightly but cant remember if that was before or after fitting the spacers.
Hi Sandy,
Yours looks like its got far more clearance than mine.I've just checked the etk and my wheels are from an e31 (8 series) and the front wheels are et 10.
The photo below of mine with no spacer looks ok :
But after the spacer not so good.but i have just remembered something. When i took the photo from above the car the suspension hadn't settled properly as i had just fitted new springs and hadn't quite lowered it off the jack. Also,i wonder if it makes a differance that i've fitted m3 eccentric control arm bushes ?
Well i've lowered it down (have taken pictures but photofuckit doesnt seem to be uploading) and it has sat in better but still very close. As you pointed out above the offset should give more arch clearance but need a 10 mm spacer just to be the same as yours.Im very confused now.Im going to go and check what the wheels have wrote on them.
