tackling bird crap

Be careful here - the stains that you speak of are likely to be damaged clearcoat/topcoat caused by the acid in the bird crap. I tried polishing out even with a machine to remove the damaged paint - It needed wet-sanding to remove completely and polishing back from there....

I'd start with clay - its not harsh compared with sanding/TCut and it did a great job shifting some pretty old bird crap on my car. Then, mine is flat white (Alpinweiss) so it might have been easier.

I have the same problem
Just got the car from paint shop, and bird dropped some crap on my rear bonnet. Problem is that this hapenned during night so I saw it early in the morning. Paint is diamond black metalic.
It was horribly vissible in the sun, so I took farecla G3 compound and try to polish those spots. Well, I managed it but I damaged the clearcoat ( I mean, when car is parked in sunny place I can see swirls marks and scratches from polish
). I't makes me nuts. I've tried to put some wax over it (Nigrin Metalic) but didn't see much improvement.
Can I get some advice from you guys? Any product to use? It looks just horrible on repainted car

Well, like I said, my car isn't metallic so it might not work exactly the same but when I used the meguiars clay kit and all three steps of their 3 step product I was able to get rid of some nasty baked on bird crap and even more impressive it shifted nasty marks made by air hoses on the front wings. (OK, I should have been more careful).
I'm not saying meguiars is the only option - I am happy to believe C76Jon when he says Zaino is better!!! - but it worked for me and is available down at halfrauds at short notice.

G3 is still fairly coarse as far as compound is concerned. Depending on the damage, you may still need to wet sand the area, but you may get away with successively finer compounds/polishes until all the damage is removed. You just need to make sure you don't go all the way through the lacquer.cro320 wrote:I have the same problem![]()

You think that wetsanding will remove them?
You will leave swirls/marring/holograms when you remove sanding marks; You need AT LEAST two polishing stages to get a perfect finish after wet sanding in my opinion.
The general rule of thumb for me is:
The more efficient the defect removal - the poorer the quality of the finish.
If you P2000 a defect out, you will need two stages to get a sanding mark and hologram free result...
