REPLACING ALTERNATOR BELT

hi

the belt broke so i am trying to replace it but to do so i have to remove the power steering belt. the problem is that i can not loosen the power steering belt. i have tried the adjusting bolt on the power steering pump but it does not move and it spins.

Quite often the toothed adjuster bar wears and the adjuster nut can't grip the bar but if you loosen the 2 lower pivot bolts on the pump also, you should then be able to push the pump in towards the block.

I always find it easier to take the air filter housing off to gain better access to the pivots from the top of the engine bay.
