Hi All,

My first post. I'm looking for an E30 Touring but the first thing I need to know is the size of the boot with the seats folded. Those wheels arches look mighty close to each other! I can just about fit my mountain bike in the back of my Focus but the Beemer looks smaller.

Can anyone help? This is the only thing I need to know before I put up a wanted ad!

Cheers

I have bought a touring fairly recently, and the boot isn't huge compared to some estate cars, but you can still load it up with a lot of crap for the tip :D

I haven't tried, but i'm sure a mountain bike would go in the back ok.

A colleague of mine measured my boot a couple of weeks agi to see if he could fit a desk in it and he thinks he remembers the measurements being just short of 800mm between the arches and just short of 1600mm from the back of the seats to the back of the car with the seats folded down.

I would go outside and measure it, but mine's in the paintshop having the bits of rust sorted!! :D

You can definitely fit a mountain bike in a touring with the seats down, but you'll need to take the wheels off. Mine has a 22" frame.

thanks chaps. I take the front wheel off the bike. at the end of the day it should squeeze in at a funny angle if not completely flat.

wanted ad coming up....

I can get my bike in the back of my 3 door withought wheels.

I've also carried 3 seats, 2 extra wheels, 2 stereos, tool kit, hydrolic jack, ramps, boot panel, a suitcase, a laptop, a hiking bag, and a plastic box full of paper work. On top of the usual interior.

I think a tourer wil have ample room for a few bikes, stick the passengers on the roof!

gotta say, the wheels in that "advert" totally change a small family estate car into a gangster mobile.
Awesome :D
