Got a 730i here with a warrenty rebuild due to nikasil- £9600 on parts alone for the dealer to replace 8O

excellent work though- keep it up! :D
S**t the bed!!!

I can well beleive it though, parts are so expensive!
I take it that is virtually a brand new engine though, i.e. new block, rods pistons etc?

LOL!

By the way, if anyone fancies doing this convesion and needs an engine, there is one on ebay at the moment from the same guy I got mine from. He was very helpful with me but it ony has 22hrs to go.
I'd post the link but I don't know if i'm aloud to and it isn't really anything to do with me, just informing!

I finished rebuilding the motor winkeye It looks pretty good, well, a load better than when I got it.
Just a few bits and bobs to reinstall then the fun begines, will be pulling the M40 from the touring next weekend no doubt and putting the M60 in place so I can measure up and fab some new mounts.

The exhaust is the next major headache, then the brake setup! For the exhaust, I'd like the torquiest, creamiest result possible. Any ideas?

Ah, did I select the wrong link in order for these to load up on screen rather than having to be redirected to imageshack?

project being properly done..fairplay..and dont think of packing it in..itll be worth it driving round in such a unique car 8)

Cheers Brian, thats a real nice comment, I have committed now as the engine rebuild has cost me enough where I can't bring myself to turn my back on it - plus, I now have a shiny-ish M60 motor in (hopefully) fine fettle that should make the touring a bit of monster!

Still on the hunt for a gearbox though, they are like goldust unless your prepared to take out a mortgage and buy one (which I'm not!)

Plenty to keep me busy for now though, I look forward to updating over the next few weeks.
