What polish do you use? I have been using Autoglym polish and then the resin coat'. Works well but does'nt seem to last long. When it rains and dries you can see the dried rain marks on the paint. So out comes the polish again.

aren't the streak marke to do with the contaminates in the water that do not evapourate when the water does, hence the polish not making any difference to water spots.

plus i wouldn't fancy polishing my car if it hadn't just been washed in case i was just rubbing more dirt into the paint causing swirl marks.

hi
quite right chris

tho i would not recomend autoglym polish imho
its got silicone in you dont want this on your paint at all
they add it to add shine

plus it leaves horrible white powder residue all in the shut lines and try and get it off any black plastic trim you get it on!!

if any one does have white polish residue on black plastic trim use peanut butter to get it off
i kid you not it works it will remove the white marks!!

go for something like p21s polish and use the p21s cleanser before you apply the polish

some meguiars is good tho iam not a real fan of their polishes/waxes
zymol is good but very expensive and is not that durable

zaino rocks!!! its amazing stuff and lastsand lasts

just my opinions

Just tried a wax called "Harley Wax" today.

Gave it a real shine, be interesting to see how long it lasts.

My car will be filthy by the time Sunday comes round, today was the only chance between now and then

I like the Meguiars 3-Step Crystal. Works a treat on the old 6. Does what it says on the bottle!

thanks chris tho iam no expert just dead fussy!!

a pointer to zaino
it is amazing stuff no doubt it outlasts anything on the market anywhere and has been continually tested against new and old
there is work involved with it but you get out what you put in
zaino is a sealent it is something that enhances the surface of your paint
ie it is non abrasive and if you have imperfections in your paint before you apply then they will still be there after
the surface needs to be prepped as best you can before application
ie swirl marks removed etc etc using a paint cleanser like p21s which is very good
i use some 3M products to get fine swirls out
the darker the car obviously the more imperfections show
once the paint is clean rid of previous products then the zaino process can begin
the finished result is amazing
you also have to think about what you use to wash, dry, apply polish and remove polish with
microfibre is the product you need to use for all
if its good quality stuff then this will not mark your paint
sponges, chamois etc will just keep adding marks which is counter productive
heres a pic of a well prepped bonnet on a black car with one coat of zaino z2 pro polish and one coat of z6 gloss enhancer
judge for yourself

I use Maguires 3 Step Deep Crystal, but the best polish, without doubt, is "Swissol".

Its done by a dude called Mark Underwood (the "WaxWizard" www.waxwizard.co.uk). He will sort you out a starter kit, wax, wash, applicators, micro fibre towels, legendary MC2 wheel cleaner..

AND come to you, and spend all day preparing your car and showing you how to do it.

These are the results:

Cost? Oh yeah, about Ԛ£200!!

very nice looks like the paint surface was well prepped before hand and that is the key to success

swissol is a wax and durability is not good. i dont mean that just for swissol i mean for all wax based products.the elements will mean this will continue to need topping
its fact that wax is not a durable substance and uv rays and rain salt etc etc will make it degrade quickly
swissol are kind of zymol type products as are their prices they have several waxes some over 1000 quid!!!!
i have used them and they do give good results on a well finished/prepped surface
but canurba based waxes are again non abrasive and therefore only give u as good a finish as your surface is before you start

there is aschool of thought that for deeper shine its good to use a sealent/polish like zaino/klasse and top it with a good wax to give a really deep shine
i have tried this but i have had mixed results but others have had great success
this may be due to personal taste in what they are looking for in their finished result

its horses for courses really and what one loves others hate whether it be due to process involved or just not getting the application process right
withzaino less is more and you need such a small amount to get the best results ........too much and it doesnt work as well

When I get a nice warm day and some spare time, I'll give mine a proper polish to give a comparison. I've got a full Zymol Concours kit including all the brushes, rags, etc, but have only used some of the Vinyl stuff at the moment - that does a very good job. It was a b***dy expensive though, especially when you see the size of the wax pot!!!

Thanks.

Well it was parked in Sainsburys but after the bonnet got covered in "industrial fallout" I decided enough was enough & got the 316 Touring to do the daily grind.

I can now park where ever I like with little or no anxiety !

Having said that, I've got the Touring in for a little cosmetic tidying.

I'll miss the next NE meeting at the Holiday Inn but I should make the June one. Will see what runs are coming up too.

I use S100 which is the exact same product as P21S but relabled for motorcycles. It is about 1/2 less $ as P21S. Autogeek.net sells it. I have tried it side by side by many products and it is the best I have seen.
