Looks like a good solid example. I used to own one of these and miss it like mad. Good luck with your bids and keep us posted. You got to love that nose.

Well there is a big 0 before the 40k that suggests its only 40k... but i guess the seat does look very worn for so little miles, maybe it belonged to someone with a sharp ass or a 70s punk with studded pants? 8O

Im not naieve enough to think that it has possibly done 1 million and 40k miles. As for being a false reading, maybe who knows?

If you really badly want to spend your weekends welding and mopping out a damp festering turd at least get a 323i. An E21 320 is even more pointless and worthless than an E30 320i !

The mileage is almost certainly not genuine - that being said if you can get it for £300 or less then its prolly a good buy

It is a clean car though. Perhaps it's the chair that's from another e21?

The boots rot in an e21, and that boot looks more than 40K I had 35K e21 2 years ago and it looked a lot fresher than than that.

Andan e21 320 is a slow car and the 3 speed auto is painfull, good donnor for a motor swap if the shell is sound.

Which was the best engine? Did they ever have the 4 pot 2ltr in there?? Or was the 323 the best variant?

Hi

The 4 pot 320i is probably the most collectable as there are very few of them left only ever seen 3 for sale and they were made before the 323i (pre face lift cars), but the 323i is the most valuable as most poeple rate it as the best e21 (other than alpina etc) and when the 323i was luanched it was the fastest BMW faster than the 633 csi of the time

The 323i is not fast by todays standard but a sorted 323i is smooth and fun to drive

A nice spec decent 323i ( is that a flying pig i see, or just a rusty one ?) is a great turd , all other e21s are pointless moneypits :(

um Pete, am i right in thinking that the only cars you take seriously of the e30s are 325i sports and above in pristine condition? if so i'm in the wrong place.. i thought this was e30 zone not e30 325i s orbetterzone. elitism is for dicks.

Pete knows his stuff, even if he applies his knowledge with a cynnical slant. Read it in jest, it's not elitism. He loves my 320i cab really winkeye

I seemed to remember the old 02 2ltr lump being in the early e21's. In that case, are they a potential for forced induction?

Seats and brake pedal suggest more than 40k, I'd say nearer 120k ish
E21s rust at the bottom of the rear window just behind the door, round the bottom corners of the rear lights, rear wheel arches, bottoms of the doors and boot floors from memory. I've had 2 E21s, and one was a 320.
Check the car runs nicely, that solex carb is the Bitch from Hell... It's computer controlled and VERY expensive to put right. The computer bit often goes wrong and then the engine is worn prematurely by the mixture.

There is no computer controlling the solex 4A1 , its a bad copy of an old american carb and suffers from warped main bodies and lots of other nasty maladies, another good reason to avoid one of these horrid little turds !

Fair enough Pete. No reason to argue, as I don't know for sure.
Could I be confusing it with the Zenith on the 1.8 316 then? That was just as bad, I threw that away and put a Weber on it instead.

They look soo old now, and rare (only ever seen a few up close, and they were rusted all over).

They seem to not be worth much? Not collectable? E30's seem to have reached rock bottom, and are worth more than the average E21?

It makes you think, 5 years down the line and E30's may be as few and far between as the E21

JonnyThundes, Pete is just joking, its the way his posts are. He would love this 320i really :D

not much wrong with a e21... my 1st car at age 17 after passing my test ummm 17 years ago hey!

was a 2 litre, in bright orange with body kit, chrome arches, big bore 2 zorst, alloys off a opel manta haha the lot looked like a candy shop on wheels... was awsome, put the new upgrade carb on there and it flew

aint the dogs these days as there so outdated and that but back then when all the other guys could afford and drive was ford fiestas 1 litres and such.... compared to what other kids had in my hood it was like a m3 going by you in todays comparison

and after all that i saw it about 6 months ago it still on the road and looking fab

The E21 in reality wasn't a great car. After the 2002 they were heavier with softer handling and no more power. The Opel Ascona (Mark 1 Cavalier to us) was much better and in 1975 Alfa were making cheap 1.3 cars with five speed gearboxes that actually went around corners without all the dramatic oversteer bollocks. The standard 323i was an evil car and need the LSD and Bilstein suspension just to be safe to drive. An E21 can be modified to produce a nice car but as standard they were horrid and a three speed 320 auto is as desirable as Herpes.

The E30 was a huge improvement really. The E21 should be buried as the mistake it was.

Make mine a '77-8 2.3 Ghia in Roman bronze with tan vinyl roof and 'Chatsworth' trim please. Man that was a plush car from the days when Ford knew how to market a car.
