Gutted.

Someone pulled out right in front of me - automatic reaction was to swerve out of the way instead of hitting him (wish i had hit him in hindsight - he drove off and dissapeared!!).

Put the front left of the car through a garden wall and the front right clipped a telegraph pole!

Will need front bumper, both wings, bonnet, two wheels and tyres, steering rack, subframe, full suspension both sides and prob a few other bits.
Pretty confident it will be a write off due to the cost of the parts, let alone the labour and paint!!

Absolutley gutted

Totally gutted for you mate! These are absolutely stunning cars.

Like you say, the cost of the parts for these is eye watering but i really hope you can get it fixed

Think the best bet for me will be to have it written off, argue for as much money as possible and then i'll see about buying it back for as little as possible.

Dunno if i'd repair it, or split it, or sell as is.

Was considering selling anyway, so i might have to get a cab for the summer!!

Even if you found him, what can you do? Like you said, best if you'd had hit him. Problem is if you have it written off your premium will go through the roof. I've been driving 13 years with no claims, then when i lost the back end of my Msport i put in a claim for the repairs which was a couple of grand and they wanted £5k for me to insure my E46 cab because i'd made a claim. I promptly cancelled the claim, but they tried to say i'd still had a accident so it didn't matter even if i didnt claim. I told them where to go :-x

I know how i felt after my accident, so i know how you must be feeling. Love the 8 series and i think it's defo one of the best looking BM's ever made

Might be worth seeing what they will give you for the car and then finding out the repair costs. If the difference is not that much, might be worth paying for the repairs yourself cause making a claim gives them the right to fcuk your arse for years to come :(

Would normally pay for stuff myself, but no choice this time.

Would have to pay for telegraph pole and garden wall - and that is not gonna be a cheap repair, even in my mates garage - and i'm in no position to pay any of it myself at the mo!!!

I'll be in touch if/when the time comes!

I'm sure there'll be a bit of arguing over the value when they write it off, so it might take a little while!!

Exaclty what i always say!!!!

Funny how your instincts are 'no, don't hit him'!!!!!!!! Then you swerve and it's too late!!

At the same time though, prob minimised damage and injury's!! Impact was very little as the car kinda wedged on both sides, instead of a 30mph hit on the front!!
At least there's no damage to the monster engine, so it'll get a chance to live on!!

People at work have already been telling me to put the engine/box into an E30!!!
Perhaps a standard looking 318i cabriolet with a 5.6 V12 winkeye winkeye

Shame on you Miniblob, putting wheels like that on a 850 csi ! Every cloud has a silver lining though, it looks like their offending days are over.
Try and buy the salvage back if its reasonable, that engine and box are worth £3000 + :) The brakes have a value but most of the rest will end up as expensive door stops ! :(

gutted mate! such bad bad luck!
Doesnt look too bad from the pics but being as you can see under it I think you might be right.. unless you can source the parts in the right colour then it's just sus. components.. do they not share stuff with the older 6's and 7's?

Put the engine in an e28...

Well done for swerving IMO... much better to write a car off than be involved in an accident with injuries, even if it leaves you decidedly down in the dumps.
