Sash - I've not forgotten you! As soon as I have the finished article I can weigh and measure it for you.

Kedge - Yes they will be available for the forseeable future, either through me on the E3024V.com site, at the group-buy price or from BTB for the full retail price.

Ste...

I paid you the remaining £300 (plus some for the steering spacer and shipping iirc) via internet banking a while ago (about a month as a rough gestimate)!!

Could you check for me??

Many thanks.

Jai

[edit]: I just checked, the money was transferred on the 7th February '07 hombré...

Ste,

That's great news. I understand you have had some "issues" getting yours running. I hope these are short lived for you.

Can you PM me with the balance I have to pay please and I'll arrange it immediately.

All the best

Nice one hombré...

Inspired by both the nice weather and the imminent arrival of the manifolds, I'm off down to my Mums in Essex today to rip the guts out of the project 325i. Still need the oil pump and pick-up plus the M535i engine mounts to drop the S50 in. Need to find somebody with a torch or a braisiers (not the type that hold titties in) to add the oil retun to the dipstick too.

YEY! Progress... Perhaps I shouldn't speak too soon. The power steering pump on my 318iS hack is dying rapidly......

Cheers Ste.

Not far off needing mine Ste, however the delay can't be helped and fortunately I have a busy time of work/weddings/birthdays at the moment so the E30 is on the back burner, only a few days of steady work will have it ready though. Shame I can't find the bloody time as I'm getting tired of my runaround being so slow :(

PC is out of action at the mo and due to regulations put in place by me at work I can't check the Zone, only emails every now and again so please keep me posted with an email if you can please mate.

Cheers

Not sure about the price, but the manifolds are still being done. My car is still up at BTB, but not sure how much progress they have made.

Sounds good tubby! I'm curious: why not the B28? I'd have an M52B25 in an E30 but for a nice economical, torquey drive.. Not to supercharge! Did the 2.5 turn up cheap? (I'm not saying it wasn't worth the effort, just surprising you didn;t go for the 2.8 whilst there)

Haven't heard about the manifolds yet, but from the above you can see there might be a slightly longer wait for the M52 manifolds.

hmmmm thanks for that....

umm the 2.8ltr dosnt have much more power over the 2.5ltr and costs a lot more over here and also they are harder to come by and im only aiming for 230 or so kw at the wheels so this set up should be enough

'Our' exhausts/manifolds aren't on BTBs website as they haven't made them yet. They list an E30 fitted with S50 system but obviously they are still working on them (ours)...

You could contact BTB directly to buy one, but you'll be paying the full retail (non group-buy) price of £2550. Bear in mind you'll also be in the queue behind us. So if you want to pay more and wait longer then go for it! :D

You guys will have the first as soon as they are finished. Ian now has his car back and his first brief reports to me are that he is very pleased with it (I'm sure he'll verify that, or fill in more when he gets a minute). BTB have made all of their jigs using Ian's car. I know BTB are behind our schedule but I'll be speaking to them today and have a proper update for you all. Sorry again for the delay but we're all in the same boat and all wanting these ASAP.

Also, that system will not fit an M50/M52 engined E30 due to a different (to the S50) block height.

Nice one Ste...

Did you get your M52B28 running by the way? I seem to recall reading you had a problem?

Cheers.

Yep she runs now. I have a dodgy MAF and a sticking VANOS though (fault codes on Carsoft) so it's in 'limp home' mode.

I'm very happy with it :D

On my car, they have further modified what was already on the car (a previously modified S50 manifold), and they also replaced the front section of exhaust (between manifold and centre box). This piece of pipe was really nasty when I took it up, but they have done a beautiful job of replacing it, and they also fitted a proper X pipe for good measure.

Because I already had an S50 manifold on the car, the difference is not huge, but I think there are improvements across the full range, and the power delivery seems smoother.

Sound is pretty much as it was, as they have not changed any of the silencers. If the sound of Ste's M52 exhaust is anything to go by, they will sound very nice indeed 8)

No idea at the mo Adil - certainly wasn't blaming you though fella! It could even be a short in a wire on the way to the MAF.

Ste,

Any idea what's going on yet? Not hassling, just a little concerned that's all - not having heard from you in a while.
EIther your sat on a beach in Fiji with our cash laughing at us or BTB are a little behind still, which is it?

Hello chaps.

BTB have finally got back to me and the news isn't great. Essentially he says he underestimated the work involved and he'd forgotten how difficult the job was. He isn't prepared to do the manifold work for the prices quoted.

Obviously this leaves me in a big mess. I've paid to trailer my car up to them, and me and Ian have taken a few journeys up there so they had his car to work on too. I've also bought a huge pile of S50 manifolds. So far this group buy has cost me personally over £2.5k. Essentially BTB have used our cars, made jigs to make the manifolds from, and now they have those he's realised the work is more than he remembered...

I need to look at the figures properly but essentially he wants circa £1k to modify each manifold.

X pipe and exhaust prices are not changed.

I have a pile of 10 donor manifolds still up there.

The way I see it we now have a few choices.

1) We pay the increased price. I'm guessing most people will not want to pay this much though. The product is still the same superb product it was always going to be - but the price is obviously a fair chunk more!

2) I've started to talk to a competitor - they also make very high quality manifolds and exhausts for race cars. Turn around on these should be quicker than BTB were managing plus they are much more local to me and Ian so that could speed things along more. If I can get a price like the reasonable one we had off BTB I can go ahead with this if everyone is willing.

3) I pay anyone's deposit or fee back if they just want out at this stage. Obviously the more that stay in, our buying power is stronger though.

So there it is. I aplogise for yet another hurdle, but unfortunately there's not a lot I can do about the price we'd agreed suddenly being increased. Whatever happens I'll have to go back up to BTB even if only to collect all of our donor manifolds.

Please could you let me know how you want to procede. I think you all have my phone number. If not PM/email me and I'll send it you, or let me know what you'd like to do via PM or email. (steATm50e30.co.uk)

Sorry again, and thanks for your patience this far.

Well thats a bit of a b0ll0ck up :( :x

Is this for both the M52 and S50 manifolds? I only ask that because with Ians being done (and I assume paid for) have they increased the price for the 2 types of manifold?

Also, the £100 deposit we all individually paid - was that paid to BTB?
