Went to an 325 tonight (E30, phase 1), the arches were needing a bit of attention, weren't hellish but do need some (and the guy said "the body is A1"!!!).

Anyway when he stopped the water leaked from under his car, he opened the bonnet, but before I got a chance to check/look his mate sais he's tightened the expansion cap, that it was loose.

But he put more water in (just water) but with the engine running it was "bubbling" in the tank. and there was water coming in from the breather tube at the front back into the tank.

Is this normal or is this the sign of a head gasket!

Sounds like the guy has told you two lies already - "bodywork is A1" and "Expansion cap was loose"!

This would be enough to put me off!
If it aint broke, it aint modified enough

No it wasn't, he wants dam near 1k for it, but said "I'll take 900", I was swaping a L reg, Probe V6 with nothing wrong with, well some very minor thing's, and I do mean minor! as in a side light bulb and a hydraulic catch thing that holds the tailgate up (it's a hatch).

Good job I can run (well drive) fast!!

na mate forget it, if it was about Ԛ£300.00 it might be worth a go, my mate just sold his m reg probe in the paper and got Ԛ£1500 for it.
