workshop jealousy here too!!! i do have a garage now but the E30 won't fit in!!! i also have a drive now but when poarked up against the door, the car sticks off the end by 6"! the only thing i can do now is use the garagedrive (open the garage door and park it partway in!!!!) still, it beats nearly getting hit by every passing car when working in the road!!!
your donor car / engine looks clean which is (hopefully) a sign that it's been looked after

got around to removed the m30 today, little problem, the engine loom runs along the injection rail and the straight into the main loom runing along the bulkhead,do you have to cut this loom here ,wheres the round plug on the e34.do you have to use the ecu out of the e34?sorry if this has been covered but i'm not much good with the wiring side of things.

the round plug is the right hand one in the third pic down - next to the diagnostic plug with lid - bottom right corner of pic. it sort of unscrews...
m30 ecu needed. the whole engine loom ecu etc should come out as one, and just needs earths etc and the round plug connecting
looking good anyway

Finally got around to starting my 3.5 conversion in my sport, the 2.5 had a misfire and after throwing a pile of money away on new parts and taking it to a good e30 mechanic the problem could no be found so i stripped the head of the car but still found nothing so it left it being an electrical or injection fault, rather than wasting more money on parts i decided to go for the 335i
I did the same. finally ended up in 335 swap. now doing few more tweeks on the M30....and still.. at GETTING READY state.
Proud to say, First E30withM30 in Kuwait.

Looking good
Is that Twiggy's e34?
Cut that square grommet off the engine loom and replace it with the round one off your 325 loom.
Use the ecu etc that came with the M30.
Don't cut any wires there is no need just disconnect them!

mint looking..
is there trouble with manifolds for the 335 conversion? you gonna declare it a 335 on tax book..i not sure if to change book to 2.5 or not.. i think i will as it be safer but 24v 325 dont exist so i could say it a 12v..but how you gonna explain a 3.5 litre

It is actually illegal to change engine capacity and not inform the DVLA!
I have because I'm a responsible, law abiding pillar of society!
I don't think there's any difference taxing a 2.5 or 3.5, is there ?
That manifold and cam cover look

alan335i ! Nice!

i thought you had to get a inspection done on a car when you put in a different engine if you were going to change it on the log book?

quick update, got the engine in and positioned yesterday ,measured up and made the mounts, its clearing both the exhaust flange and the servo and i'll be able to use the e34 rad

,i was able to use my original gearbox mounts, the prop shaft looked around the right length ,just to try it i took the flange off my 325i sport box and fitted it to the m30 and the shaft went straight onto it,has any one else tried this?looking at it i can't see why it wouldn't work.it would save a bit of hassle if it would.

Agreed!
My swap has slowed right down now that I'm rebuilding the engine (reminds me I should put up some pickies).
This could be a
stupid question but the sump looks super close to the subframe and steering rack in that pic above. I'd have thought there'd be some vertical movement (ie, say high speed over a crest?) that might be cause some damage to the sump?

from coleraine, what about you ? see you're interested in the m30 conversion,if you're in the area you could get a look at mine. Got the wiring sorted at the weekend ,got her fired up for the first time this evening

,can't wait to get the thing on the road now, just the clutch cylinder and the exhaust to sort now, aquired a e36 m3 evo back box at the weekend, think that should do her.

after having a hell of a time tring to bleed the cooling system i've finally got it finished,(well just the mot to sort now)not as easy over here to get its about a month waiting list at the minute.had it out on a trial run in the wet today, bit of difference in power from the 325i,getting wheel spin in 4th at times.think bigger brakes is called for,any options to use?my lsd isn't pleasing me its unlocking quite a bit, would a good oil change help any?i here miller oils lsd oil is about the best,or is it a case of a diff rebuild or a replacement.i get a few new pics up when i get a chance.

don' know why it wasn't bleeding,it just came one nite first time no probs, think its a 3.91 diff, standard sport lsd anyway.little bit low geared,50mph @2000rpm,but liking the acceleration to much to change it.
