Hi all, bit of a funny but very bad thing just happened to Mummy-boos tourer, traveling approx 60 mph the passenger side rear wheel decided it was too good for the car and dissapeared accross a field and into a brook.
Meanwhile the car dropped and ground to a halt, is the damage from this going to be repairable or what?? what do we do???
As I write this mummy-boo and stitch-626 are waiting by the car with a boot load of shopping defrosting waiting for a big truck to come get them.
Help!

Lucky they're ok!
Surely it would just have worn down the brake disc/anything else thats hit the deck?.
New suspension, brakes... wouldnt have theought it would need much more than that unless its damaged the chassis/floorpan...
The front wheel fell off my mazda once, buggered the brake disc but everything else was fine apart from a scraped bumper.

We are in Henlow, on Henlow camp, I'll get stitch to fill you all in when they get back.
Hopefully it will just be minor damage then, nothing to break the bank fingers crossed.

Wasn't a 626 by any chance? My ex brother-in-law had one, D reg, noisy rear wheel bearing. He phoned Mazda, they said it would be fine to drive it to them to be sorted, about a mile from the garage, he was slowing for a roundabout, and the rear wheel overtook the car and ended up on the roundabout island.munky30 wrote:The front wheel fell off my mazda once, buggered the brake disc but everything else was fine apart from a scraped bumper.
Glad everyone's OK.

Xedos 6. Which doesnt share the platform with the 626, but shares most of the rest of the components like brakes and suspension etc.gortour wrote:Wasn't a 626 by any chance? It was my fault though, had just put new wheels on it and forgot to tighten the nuts properly

My ex b-i-l 's 626 actually took the brake drum still bolted to the wheel. The rear axle sheared at the wheel bearing...

Obviously the brake pipe broke too, p*ssing brake fluid out, so no brakes either when he tried to stop...
He called the AA out, and they dumped it in a very inconsiderate manner at the Mazda dealers, blocking their entrance /exit to the service bays...

We thought it quite amusing, not sure Mazda would have done... But they said it would be safe...
