Hey munky please read my reply to orangecurry,read it man.I was brousing through our e30zone photo gallery and a UK members M325i photo spread turned up and on going through archieves there are plenty of these cars floating around the UK.Does it matter wether i live in New Zealand the UK,Russia or the USA we are all members of this zone and i don't appreciate your conotations with respect to the questions put forward,i'm not the one getting upset,it's you.The question pertains to M badged 325i's not 325i Sports,as i say there are plenty on the zone photo gallery hence the question.

I answered the point about seeing 325's with M badges on, as have other people. If it is a UK 325, with an M badge, its a 325 that someone has put an M badge on.

For you to go on in your reply to orangecurry, which not surprisingly I did read, and call people idiots for giving their opinions on M badged 325's (the fake uk ones, not the genuine S african/new zealand ones) is a touch out of order if you ask me.

I agree with ziggy though, his attitude was pretty off from the start and pseudo insulting 90% of the members on a forum isnt going to get you a very good response. Incidentally, as he doesnt know something, and wants to know it, does that put him in the bracket he so casually demeaned; the 'wannabe know alls/guessers'?

My comment about it being answered in the first reply was misplaced, but it was answered in your first reply, which was early on. So my point about the topic having been resolved and therefore rightfully becoming a free for all that has followed the natural course of any conversation and wandered onto a slightly different topic still stand. What about the ///M535i ???????? Same spec as a 325i Sport albeit with the m30 instead of the m20

My 1987 tech 1 sport has ///M badges on the grill, boot, gear knob and the steering wheel. These were all fitted when the vehicle was new? Should they not be there?

I think ziggy meant he was being sarcastic, not you. I was also being a touch sardonic in my reply about him coming on here to ask about 'foreign ' cars, this is a good place to ask. Because of the variation and international nature of its members, this forum is an incredible resource and knowledge base for these cars so yes he has come to the right place to ask his question.

But alongside that, it is full of opinionated people that like to have their say on something. So for him to initially demand only linear responses and subsequently react as he did is unnecessary imho.

& plenty of people would say it didn't deserve the 'M' badge. But at least that's what the car was called by BMW... they never sold (in this country!) a M325i. Their choice, but some would say it's silly to badge a car as a model that never existed.

Where bmw saw fit to put an M badge on a car (over here anyway) they usually had some sort of performance related changes, such as lsd, close ratio box etc. These in my eyes are enough to warrant an M badge. These badges dont imply the car is an M5, M3 etc, but indicate it is a step up from the normal cars.

However, putting an M badge on your car because it has an Mtech steering wheel and gearknob is tantamount to, for instance, me wearing a badge that says 'I have a 12" penis' when in reality I am burdened with a measly 10. False advertising only ever results in bitter disappointment for everyone concerned.

But, horses for courses, each to their own and many other equally annoying platitudes and cop-outs later, its all down to personal taste.

They have a nice patina and are original to the car, so will be staying put.

On the whole I think that ///M badges are acceptable on 325 sports as these were mostly done at the time of the original purchase.

But as for sticking them on 316's and the like nope.

To answer the original post. If the M325 that the op is talking about is the same as a UK sport it will have m-tech suspension (shorter springs and stiffer dampers), close ratio box and an LSD, along with various cosmetic changes. Body-kit black headlining etc. These models accelerate quicker than standard 325 due to the gear ratios and are a more "sporting" drive.
