No that was a E36. I havent done much to this, but i changed the suspention and done a few subtle mods. It's a joy to drive and the 330 engine is fantastic

It already has some ICE in it, but for the 1st time ever, i can use my boot! :D

This is my 1st BMW other than E30's in the last 10 years because i was E30 obssesed, but the E46 has it's place and i enjoy the E36 too.

Your e46 looks great Ben. As a daily driver i would have an e46 over an e30 any day

aye, they had about 15 more bhp than standard, but then the evo came out which was meant to have more again...

i think my m3 will be a keeper for a long long time to come, she just sits in the garage ready for me to play with. I will no doubt get another car at somepoint, i have no need at the moment as i get the train to work. E46's have their place, and it is a good place.

the idea is to have one of each, dont think the wife will agree...

the e30 m3 is definitly a classic and always will be a classic, keep your m3 for a bit and people will be offering their e46 m3 cab and 6.5k

Both exceptional cars but both serve different purposes.

Can see my dad having E46 M3 as a next car.

Though im sure every M3 owner on here has a price that they would let their car go for, i know i do!
I think you've got it about right with the above mate!
You also have made a good choice in not swoping as i would not like to be standing the depreciation on an e46 M3 at this time.
To me,an e46 M3 is a nice machine, but i see them daily,so they remain merely "nice" like so many performance cars, however the few times i have seen e30 M3's on the road, there's real "presence"and a sense of occasion. 8)

Definately, the depreciation will be the killer. For example, this guys offer would have ment me giving him 6.5k, money that i would loose completely if i sold the car in a years time.

If i came to sell my M3 now after 3 years of ownership i would be confident of getting what i paid at least.

If i wanted an everyday car i would definately perfer the e46 M3, but my M3 is a toy, its for blasts through country lanes on nice sunny days. I believe there is no car (other than the ones i mentioned earlier in the thread) that is better than the e30 for this.

Yeah,i suppose it's down to individual tastes Ben,as i have had the same/similar buzz in other cars too! But your right, cos e30 M3 is up there with the best i have sampled to date!

Nail on the head was hit!!

E46s are too common.

In my opinion the E46 isnt really an M-car its an ultra fast exec coupe. There hasnt been a proper M car since E28 M5, M6 and maybe E34 M5. Im not saying I wouldnt have one, I would love one just for the shear speed but at the end of the day its a mass produced furious exec coupe that will be worth under 10k within 18months!

The E30 on the other hand is,as Ben said, money in the bank. Mine is worth more than I paid for it and I just pay it back by spending a few quid a year keeping it tip top.
