Hi folks,

Lately my the handbrake light remains lit even when the handbrake is off. I have to wiggle the handbrake to make it go out  It seems if I pull it towards me it goes out and away from me the light comes back on - all while disengaged!

Any ideas what's causing it?

Cheers

I had my console off at the weekend and found the handbrake light wire was wobbly so would have probably had the same problem in time.
This would be the first thing to check if I were you.
Take the rear ashtray out and undo the 10mm nut underneath. Slide the console back and under the handbrake gater you will see a yellow wire with a spade terminal on the end.
Make sure that its connected properly. When the handbrake is on the terminal will make a connection with a metal plate. When you take the handbrake off the the terminal should lift up.

:D

Daryll, no need to take off the consul.

The rubber hand brake gaiter pulls off exposing the wiring...

The crimped end of the wire should poke into the top of the white nylon block from memory. You then bend the cipper tab around to get the light coming on / going off at the right moment.

If you could have seen me trying to get the rubber gaiter off at the weekend you would understand why I said to take the console off.

I swear to god I nearly cut the thing off and burnt it, it was annoying me so much! :D
