Don't know what BMW's official figs were but I think for town driving it's about 2mpg less. Motorway cruising is almost identical to a manual. Mine's now a 2.7 and I get about 25-26mpg around the suburbs and 30+ on a longer journey. My best was 35.6 on a 1000+ mile tour. Hope this helps.

Yes is the short answer to that i ahve never been so bored as to make detailed lomg term mileage calculations (no offence to those that have) but my 325 sport auto was forever in need of filling up and the same car was noticeably better when converted to a manual. the early d plate auto i had some time ago was not as bad though something to do with different engine and diff I guess.
