Re: the pedal box. I found it easier not to replace the whole box. Instead I just removed the main bolt, removed the big brake pedal, insert the longer bolt from the donor pedal box and include the new brake pedal and clutch pedal. The pedal box is the same on both auto and manual. Saves pissing about with brake linkages and removing all the pedal box bolts.
You may wish to consider sticking a short shift on while yer at it. £20 for the 1.9 Z3 shifter from the dealer.
There are defo no changes required to the loom. Some folk remove the starter relay and short the wires going to it - no need to. Just need to connect a few wires up around the gear lever. I can provide details if u need 'em.
Centre console is the same. Obviously need the leather gaiter.
As for tools, just make sure you've got a long set of extension/wobble bars.
Parts wise - Get them all before you start as my dealer never has anything in stock and it takes 2 days to get anything. That cause me the greatest delays. Some of the parts i had to order seemed quite daft or petty but where necessary. One bit I forgot to get was the exhaust hanger off the back of the gearbox - different on a manual.
I did my conversion a couple of weeks ago, took me ages as I did a bit here a bit there when I had the spare time. If I was to do it again, I reckon a weekend comfortably without having to rush it but could be done in a day if it all went without hitch and you were in a hurry. But hey, it ain't a race! I'd rather do it right than quickly.
Good luck with it.

Stu i would just leave them to it, its not worth your time or effort, you have helped lots of zoners and i have yet to hear about a problem so i think that record speaks for itself.
Some of the boys on here would only dream of having access to the workshop/tools you that you can use (without taking the piss) so let them get on with it. Concentrate on your own car it will give you more personal satisfaction knowing its done right!
You can make more money on doing subframe bushes and services without the back ache so quote accordingly.

Radiator isnt essential either, drain all the ATF and forget about itdark_sounds wrote:pedal box, prop, gearbox, flywheel, clutch, radiator, get rid of the automatic ECU and loom, or leave the loom and just get rid of the ECU. think thats it tbh.
If you were going the other way round then thats different or if you have a manual rad allready you may aswell, but if you dont there is no need to buy one really.......
Cheers

Im not out to annoy people. Its just a bit of humour, a laugh.
Humour tends to get blocked out when some people get behind the keyboard.
Im only messing with stu. Hes a good lad, weve sorted each other out.
