but for sum reason my car need 39-40mm struts, or close enough to 40mm.

there should only be 2 sizes. 45mm and 51mm. its only the 325 sports or tourings i think that have the 51mm. not sure about cabs.can you post up a pic of your strut? :? if for some reason you do have some odd set up im sure you could source struts from a scrappy. i think the size refered to is the size of the strut itself ,not the diameter of the insert.

it could be but that would mean the ones i have are 325 shocks which mean there 43mm in diameter. is this the diameter of the shocks for the 325

the shocks are 325i ones thats why they wont fit too big

43mm is the diameter of the casing on the shock yes?

the diameter of a shock meant for a 45mm strut is 37mm

i measured the outside of the strut holder, which was 45.06 and 45.08 on the different ones. but its the inside diameter thats narrow. for the shocks to fit i need an INTERNAL diameter of 44mm. but with these strut holders for that to be possible the thickness of the metal tube on the strut holder wud have to be 0.5mm, which is practically paper thin.
