i'm looking at de chroming my kidney grill over the next few days and i was just wondering whats the best way to do it, i've done nothing like that before and obviously i dont want to fook it, cheers

thanks for that,i've got a gutter strip to do aswell so i'm just off to good old halfords to get me stuff!

if you want a spare grill, either if you f00k it or just to practice on I have one, very reasonable too!

i done it yesterday choppa, dont mean to blow me trumpet or nothing but it come out wicked! i have'nt done nothing like that before and i was pretty chuffed with it, i'm gonna have a crack at the gutter strip tomorrow,cheers for the offer thou mate nice one

dont know if you have but i sprayed the whole grill including the light surrounds so it all matches up

Do you have any pics of the blacked out grilles? im a bit of a purist but it does sound like a nice touch.

snoops, now that ya mention it it has got that i've just been sprayed look! the rest of the grill looks a bit faded in comparison,i'll try and get that sorted the weekend, cheers

yep that was the same with mine so i took it all off and sprayed it, looks mean now though

i did all my grilles last weekend, including the heater intake ones on the scuttle pannel. (but not they silver kidneys)
used some halfords black bumper paint, my theory being it will be a nice satin black and as it's designed for bumpers, should stick nicely to the grilles.
quick wipe with some pannel wipe, a couple of coats of paint. an hour or so later they were dry and on the car 2 mins later looking loads better. just need a shiney new m3 badge to finish it off!

i know it sounds a bit stupid but is there any special grade sandpaper to use when rubbing it down?
