How has everyone mounted the the shoulder straps of a harness to the horizontal bar on the rear part of the rollcage? Which ones should I go for? I'm on a bit of a budget and they are not going to be used in a racing series..

Thanks,

Theo

Go for 3 inch shoulders if you can spend the extra £50 or so, Ideally you want a 5 or 6 point belt, much safer than 3 or 4 point as stops submarining, They are easy to mount on harness bar, undo one end out of the buckle, round the bar & back into the buckle & adjust for fit. Either snip off the excess strap with the clip on it or cable tie it neatly- if think you might want to use the harness in another non bar equiped car at a later date, if you wont just snip it off its neater.

Cheers for the response, but what prevents the harness from slipping along the bar?

Nothing, but thats what the cut outs in the seats are for, once in tight they dont move

Make sure when you put the belts onto the bar that you double the belt back through the buckle to stop it slipping if your should have an impact.

Personally I wouldn't cut them, I have mine cable tied

I may have some 6 point belts that are out of the FIA date but as they are in a race car have not been used much and will be prefectly safe, I have a real grip with the race belts with a few years life, but road belts no life

Theo, they dont move if tight, but you can get harness retaining loops welded onto yr harness bar, see my Pics of Golf harness bar they are on that- i just clipped the belt clips round the siide of it to get out of the way before I cable tied them out the way.

I'll prob do same agian with the e30 ignore the belts position on Golf, was just trying mounting at the time- to the pas side 3 point is how it was left, the excess belt just wrapped around the bar.
