I have acquired an original Westfalia towbar for my E30. Can anyone tell me what is involved in fitting it - is it a straight bolt on job or do I have to drill any holes?

Thanks

Robin

I've got one and need to fit it to my new touring :D

You need to drill 4 more holes in the rear panel for the brackets (they are just above the existing bumper mountings and are marked with a centre punch), 4 on the boot floor and one more for the electrics.

The rear bumper needs cutting for the swing down electrics socket to work.

I'm sure there's some fitting instructions somewhere, I remember seeing them but I can't find them on my PC :?

Cheers,

Iain T

I have the genuine BMW fitting instructions for a towbar. It's a towbar that appears to consist of a beam mounted inside the bumper, using the bumper mounting points. Does that sound like yours?
It's a 37 page pdf.

That sounds like the one, it's the one with the removable tow ball.
