A V12 E34 Tourer in black would make a very nice accompaniment to the stripped-out E30 touring drifter. You could create a super-luxury family car with air-con, electric everything and DVDs etc which would allow you to make compromises with the E30 which you might not otherwise want to/be allowed by the missus to like removing rear seats or fitting six-point harnesses etc.
Your mechanical skills seem to be improving rapidly from what I've read on the forum and putting a V12 in an E34 would be a more attainable goal than putting one in an E30 which Glenn, with all his obvious skill, found a real b*gger of a job. Obviously if you do something like this your skills will increase even more and you might feel confident enough to put an E36 M3 engine in the E30 or something like that, creating a more balanced and usable car than the V12 E30.
Once you've done all that you could build me a house and a Bugatti replica if you like

Hmm, thats an idea.... Dunno though, I like the idea of an e30 v12 touring, its so wrong its right. An e34 v12 touring doesnt have the same ring to it, they made v8 ones so its not much of a step up, and the performance figures from the v12 arent that much over the v8's that came standard in the 5's.
But i do want to get an e34 tourer as a family wagon at some point once this car goes too far away from being practical.
Tempting.... I'm going to be spending a while doing the engine, probably wont be ready to put it into a car until next summer anyway so will see how the mood takes me.

I bought my M60 cheap then stripped it, it will be back together this weekend but I had to go the ECP route to buy gaskets and ancillaries because BMW just wanted to pull my trousers down and take me good and proper - try £550 - £600 for a complete engine gasket set and head bolts Eek The lifters are £13 each if I recall from ECP and there are 32 of them on the M60, I didn't even bother enquiring at BMW! Camshafts are £300+ each, then there are valves etc. to consider. I'm fortunate because my motor was in good shape, everything is well within tolerance, just gaskets/stem seals and water pump have been replaced.
Either way up, a V12 touring would be sexytime!
Yeah I've been looking into the cost of a rebuild, lots and lots. But I only plan on doing it a bit at a time, spending 'little' and often as it were to build it up gradually.

If only. The thing is, I dont have any large chunks of money coming my way anytime soon, so building one up gradually over time is more suited to my budget.
Ou of interest though... how much?
