Well basically,
Some tit underneath my dads company insurance completley destoryed a 2 week old new van, all his fault and my dad had to claim of the insurance. Now that its time to renew my insurance, they will only let me insure one of my cars. Either the 306 d-turbo........or the 325i sport. Not happy about this at all, thanks to some stupid cunt who didnt feel it was necessary to pay any attention at all to the traffic in front of him.....i will now have to drive my pride and joy everyday......leave it in places i dont feel are safe............expose it to rain and a building site

I drove very carefully in the past year........while everyone under the company would make jokes about how it would be me who would crash.....since i was only 19. They have fucked it all up for me big style now.

So what to do to keep my car MINT! Even if it is out in the rain......

I heard of a few people lubing the wheel arch's with vaseline? who here does this?

how to keep the scuttle rust free??

If you work on a building site don't take the vaseline in with you, If you think you got stick for being 19 and having a nice car wait till the see your lube!!

realistically though there is nothing you can do, maybe a coating of thin oil, or waxoil the underneath would help. But no way you can stave off tin worm everywhere. If your scuttle is in good nick now, just keep an eye on it, make sure the lephant trunk is clear and so are all the other rain channels.

Alternativly carry a big pop up tent in the boot!

If there was already a bit of rust on it, i wouldnt really care. Its absolutley flawless..........thats why i want to keep it good! The only sport i have ever seen in similar condition, is the one that was for for sale with only 5,000 miles on the clock!! I have heard about a few cars being waxoiled after a respray, not really sure what the stuff is? Could you waxoil the wheel arch's?

I drove my M3 as a daily driver for a year and its not easy to keep them in good condition

I didnt really take any special steps apart from cleaning the wheels every night and rinsing the car ALL THE TIME through the winter

don't see why you couldn't, you'd need to speak to the poeple doing it for you on what they would recommend.

apart from that there is nothing you can do apart from inspect the car thoroughly, rust can bite at areas of bare metal (or when sealant/wax/oil/paint has been applied over damp). Fill scrapes, splits, scratches or any breaks in the paintwork with paint or a good wax.

Wash the car reguarly and thoroughly to get road grime and salt and crap off the paint and exposed metal work.

apart from that I can't be much help, get it on ramps take a look underneth and see if there is an bare metal parts you could possibly have powder coated???

Believe me, persuasion with a baseball bat in this country isnt uncommon

It isnt about the price! Its the fact that the company insurance wont let me have two cars insured now. Since that crash they have got very scared. I am 19......without company insurance on my sport.....there is no way to get insurance until am over 21.

So how much would it cost to get the bottom of a car waxoiled.....would it be worth covering the scuttle in vaseline? or just lube the whole car LMAO

can't you get your dad to insure it in his name with you as a second driver on a private policy and then you pay him the premium

other than that, don't follow cars too closly as this will lead to stone chips, wash the car as often as possible, and keep it topped with with pletny of protection (i.e. wax/polish etc)

Nope my dads cars are insured under his traders insurance, strictly no-one can get insured if they are under 25 under his policy. Although they said i can get my own trade insurance for 4,500 quid! Aye right, if i win the lottery.

The companys insurance is for vans, JCB's, diggers and my cars. Only one now unfortunatley......

It would still cost wayyyy too much! It will cost me about £2000 through the company, that is cheap over here
